Windows SDK installation and setup

meshstream_client_create validates local inputs and creates a client only; it never requests Bootstrap, a Tracker, or ICE. meshstream_client_create_playback_session immediately returns a CDN-safe playback URL, then resolves P2P configuration in the background.

MeshStream Windows SDK exposes a C ABI for native desktop players. Your app keeps its existing player; the SDK manages playback sessions, media request routing, and CDN fallback.

Platform and runtime

ItemCurrent release support
Windows versionWindows 10 / 11 x64
CPU architecturex64
Integration languageC / C++ through meshstream.h
RuntimeMicrosoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64)

The current Windows release includes only an x64 DLL and import library. Windows ARM64, x86, and other Windows versions are not currently release-supported. Do not ship the x64 DLL to those environments.

Before you start

Prepare:

  • The MeshStream Windows SDK dynamic library and public header meshstream.h;
  • An SDK Key created in the console;
  • A player that supports your target format, such as VLC, ffplay, or an in-house player;
  • A playable HLS .m3u8, DASH .mpd, or an MP4/MP3 URL with Range support.

Add the SDK

The Windows SDK package contains:

include/meshstream.h
lib/p2pcdn_core.dll
lib/p2pcdn_core.dll.lib

In your project:

  1. Add include to the C/C++ include path and include meshstream.h.
  2. Add lib/p2pcdn_core.dll.lib to linker inputs.
  3. Place lib/p2pcdn_core.dll beside the application executable, or make it discoverable through PATH.
  4. Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) on machines that do not already provide it.

Application code should depend only on the public API in meshstream.h. Do not depend on the DLL's internal name or the local proxy URL format.

Next step

After completing the setup above, continue to Quick integration to create a session, connect your player, and release playback resources.
